A pad under the hips, a wipe at hand
A bed pad lies on the sheet under the hips. Ours has a quilted top, a high-capacity core and a waterproof back, so a wet night means changing a pad rather than the bed. Choose 30 by 36 inches for a chair, a wheelchair seat or a single bed, and 36 by 36 inches for more cover when someone turns in their sleep.
Our wet wipes are 12 by 8 inches, about the size of a washcloth, so one does the job of three small ones. They are pH-balanced and neutral in scent. Keep a pack at the bedside and one in the car, and throw them in the trash, never the toilet.
